Is Beekeeping Right For Me????

Is Beekeeping Right For Me???? Come find out on Monday February 9, 7:00 pm

Come find out on Monday February 9, 7:00 pm

At the Midway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

We hear this question all the time! People often want to get into beekeeping for different reasons. Some people want to learn about this fascinating creature called the honeybee. Others just want to get honey! Some people want to help the environment through pollination of gardens and nature? Whatever the reason, come join us for a brief informational meeting to talk about the details!

The 1 hour class will include information about:

1) What kind of location and space will I need to properly have bee hives?

2) What kind of equipment will I need and what are the associated cost? Like cost of hives, smokers, bee suits, and other necessary items!

3) What kind of time requirements are there? Just how much time will I need to spend to be a good "beekeeper" and not just a "bee-haver"!

These issues and others will be discussed followed by Q & A time with members of our local beekeeping organization! We are there to answer all of your questions! If you are interested and have a huge desire to continue in your pursuit of beekeeping, we will talk about our upcoming Beginner Beekeeping School presented by the ACBA and three area "Master Beekeepers" from the State Beekeepers Association.

If you have questions or want to let us know you will be joining us, please contact us through this post, or email the club at info@ashebeekeepers.org

This event is free and open to the public and will be kid friendly! To help us plan, we would love to know you are coming, but registration is not required. Come join us on this incredible journey called "Beekeeping"!

The Ashe County Beekeepers Association represents men and women of all ages, from all different walks of lives and professions, with one common interest: beekeeping! We have a strong emphasis on education and mentoring, with a desire to see the fading art of beekeeping return to prominence in our local area. Our members range from new beekeepers to master beekeepers, and even those who don’t own any bees!

Our group meets all year on the second Thursday of each month at Midway Baptist Church – Fellowship Hall in West Jefferson, NC. Our meetings typically include fellowship and snacks at 6:30 pm, followed by our normal meeting at 7:00 p.m. Monthly speakers include those from our own club, as well as others involved in both state and national beekeepers associations.

The group helps in facilitating classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced-level beekeeping at our local community college. A list of upcoming classes with dates, times, locations and information on how to register can be found under the “EDUCATION” tab of this website.

If you have any interest in beekeeping as a hobby or business, please come visit us at our next meeting, or contact us through this website with any questions or comments.
